Principal’s Message

 Dear Families,

Thank you for your patience and kindness towards each other during this period of change with COVID-19.

As you may be aware the Prime Minister is intending at this stage to have schools remain open for as long as possible.  This is the case for Tennant Creek High School.  The school has been and will continue to take directions from the NT Education Department who act in line with the Federal decisions being made at this current time. 

In preparation for a potential school closure the school has been asked to prepare work packages that could cover a two week period of time. 

At school we remain committed to continuing face to face teaching as long as we are able to.

At school we are implementing and following the recommendations for hygiene which involves regular hand washing, the use of hand sanitisers and tissues. Guidelines for these procedures including poster in classrooms and discussions about routines have been conducted by our School Based Nurse and reinforced by all staff.

As more correspondence is received we will share the information and update posts as required.

The Tennant Creek High School Strategic and Operational Plan (SOP) 2016-2018 outlines the key strategic actions our school will undertake to implement the Department of Education School South’s Strategic Plan 2016-2018 Growing Success Together.

The SOP therefore represents a guiding hand to our school planning and assists us to design our actions, enabling us to ensure we deliver the Department of Education’s vision of enabling young Territorians to be confident and capable global citizens. The SOP helps us to attain the following goals:

  • A great start for children
  • Every student a successful learner
  • Quality leaders, quality educators, quality learning
  • Coherent and capable organisation
  • Productive partnerships

Furthermore, our SOP assists the way we go about implementing our actions by providing a set of key values to guide the way we go about the business of achieving our Vision and Goals. These values are Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Diversity and Excellence.

As we go about our business in the south there are three further guiding principles:

  • We care for our people;
  • We connect and engage; and
  • We find solutions and deliver results.
